Dear Ms Director-General Irina Bokova, Dear UNESCO Officials,

I send you, at the moment it is published on the APSA association website (http://apsa2011.com/apsanew/aboutdamascus/), the copy of a statement that I wrote at the demand of Syrian, European and North American colleagues, archaeologists, assyriologists and specialists of the heritage.

This statement will be relayed to our community of scholars and to the international organizations having in charge the protection of the World Heritage.

These are very serious matters and our Syrian colleagues, who accepted to support this motion, did it with great courage and determination. Most are currently within the borders of the Syrian Arab Republic.
